- Stakeholder feedback for refinement of IntelliDrive Safety Program roadmaps
- Policy discussions to identify and focus program activities on the most critical issues
supporting deployment
Day One: Tuesday, July 20, 2010 – IntelliDrive Safety Technical Programs
- 9:00 AM: Introduction, Expected Outcomes from the workshop - Mike Schagrin, RITA
- 9:30 AM: Overview of the IntelliDrive Safety Program - Mike Schagrin, RITA
- 10:00 AM: Vehicle‐to‐Vehicle and Safety Pilot Programs - Ray Resendes, NHTSA
Presentation and discussion of program roadmaps. Opportunity for workshop
participants to provide input to roadmap structure and activities.
- 11:00 AM: Vehicle‐to‐Vehicle Program Achievements - John Harding/Alrik Svenson, NHTSA
Presentation of activities underway, and results relating to application priorities,
interoperability, security for light and heavy vehicles
- 12:00 PM: Break
- 1:00 PM: DSRC Device Certification - Walt Fehr, RITA
Presentation and discussion of certification program roadmap and its relationship to
supporting Safety Pilot. Opportunity for workshop participants to provide input to
roadmap structure and activities.
- 2:00 PM: Human Factors for IntelliDrive - Stephanie Binder, NHTSA
Presentation of the plan for addressing aftermarket device safety concerns pertaining
to driver distraction.

- 2:45 PM: Vehicle‐to‐Infrastructure Program - Monique Evans, FHWA
Presentation and discussion of the V2I safety roadmap with specific focus on the plans
for development of the signal phase and timing broadcast capability as well as its
relationship to supporting Safety Pilot. Opportunity for workshop participants to
provide input to roadmap structure and activities.

Day Two: Wednesday, July 21, 2010 – IntelliDrive Policy Program
Note: Wednesday morning has two parallel activities. One for the bidder’s conference on
DSRC devices and one for Professional Capacity Building (see separate agenda)
- 9:00 AM: Bidder’s conference for DSRC Devices - Mike Schagrin/Walt Fehr, RITA
- 12:00 PM: Break
- 1:00 PM: Welcome, Introduction, Expected Outcomes from the Policy Workshop
- 1:30 PM: Overview of IntelliDrive Policy Program
Presentation of IntelliDrive Policy roadmaps – Safety (V2V and V2I), Truck, Transit,
Data Capture and Management, AERIS, Mobility and Road Weather Discussion of
development status, how common issues are being addressed, and how the Policy
roadmaps complement the technical roadmaps.
- 2:00 PM: Presentation of V2V Policy Roadmap - Valerie Briggs/Suzanne Sloan, RITA
Presentation and discussion of V2V policy roadmap and the specific policy categories
being addressed. This presentation will provide the structure for Day Two’s break out
groups which will provide an opportunity for workshop participants to provide input to
roadmap structure and activities.

- 8:30 AM: Break‐out sessions on key V2V policy topics:
- Certification process and policy issues – Review of technical roadmap and discussion
of policy issues.
- Certificate Authority, Security, and Privacy – Discussion of a trade‐off analysis and
review of related policy issues with stakeholders.
- Infrastructure – Discussion of V2I technical roadmap and related policy issues.
- Governance – Discussion on Governance needs for oversight and authorities and
discussion on stakeholder requirements.
- Cost/Benefit Framework—Discussion of the approach to IntelliDrive cost/benefit
analysis and required data inputs
- 11:15 AM: Summarization within each break out session
- 12:00 PM: Lunch
- 1:00 PM: Report on breakout sessions and summary
- 2:00 PM: Next steps
- 2:30 PM: Adjournment
